Imagine you’re standing at the top of a platform, about 22 storeys high, staring down at the river below, with the valley sprawling out on both sides. Your ankles are bound by the grips, and a long rope stretches out, waiting for you to jump…
Bungee jumping is one of the biggest adrenaline buzzes you can get! Here are the best spots in India for bungee jumping.
1. Bungee jumping in Rishikesh
This is India’s number 1 bungee jumping spot. The highest fixed bungee platform is here, and beckons with open arms that you can see for miles around.
Rishikesh has grown from the spiritual destination it has always been to one of India’s biggest adventure hubs too. Lying on the banks of the river Ganges, nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, Rishikesh is the gateway to many iconic Himalayan treks, and is also the location for some of the best whitewater rafting in the country. With the arrival of daredevil sports like bungee jumping, flying fox, and the giant swing, Rishikesh is now the centre for high-adrenaline adventure too.
Climb up to India’s highest fixed platform bungee jump, and take a deep breath. Look around at the mountains and the treetops, take in the silence… and then JUMP! You’ll plummet through the air, freefalling from the height of a 22 storey building, while the river below rushes towards you. And then, in slow motion, the thick cord around your ankles bounces you back gently. Once you’ve caught your breath, you’ll be lowered into the river below, into 2 feet of water where you’ll be grateful to touch land again. At the end of it all, your heart will stop pounding and you’ll be able to climb to the centre where you’ll receive your Dare to Jump certificate.
